How To Hold A Drumstick

I want to say that, it is not a hard thing to hold a drumstick if you practice. Point your index finger to front. The easiest grip style is the American grip. This is easier and powerful and a very good choice to every drummer and every type of music. To get start, raise the hand and place the index finger parallel to the ground. For this grip, place your hands about an inch or two inches above the snare drum. If you feel uncomfortable, you can move the hands the way they are comfortable.

Now, curl the index finger and bend it at its second and third knuckles and allow in such a way that it is assigned to the palm. Now place the drumstick in between the curled index finger and make sure the index finger completely holds the drumstick firmly. Find the balance point. I feel that when you the sticks it should rebound from drum. Place your thumb on the side of drumstick and curl the last 3 fingers over drumstick. Repeat the same with other hand and strike with a wrist by facing palms towards drum.
