How To Buy Drum Heads

Drum heads are the top layer of drum skin which is responsible for producing high sound. They may rely on many characteristics like quality, thickness and material of the drum. These characteristics determine many aspects like volume, and stick response etc.

Decide which type of drum heads you want whether it is a coated or clear heads. Coated heads will produce lighter and warmer sound while clear hands produce louder and brighter sound. Also make sure how many number of plies you need, one ply head implies for all most all music from jazz to pop, and 2 ply heads implies for heavy rock. Select the resonant heads you want which are at the bottom of the drum, usually paper thin clear head would be better.
