The concert bass drum is used actually in orchestras and it is the largest drum in orchestra.

Before bass drum came into existence davul is used. One can play davul by striking right side of davul with wooden stick and left side with a rod. It produces a unique and in depth sound when compared to other instruments. Davul is used as military instruments and later the material made with davul is replaced and developed a long drum which is made from tree trunk which is hollowed. Long drums are used for religious purposes and later gong drums are made as a replacement to the long drums and when considered these gong drums with orchestra, it is impossible to join with them in orchestra due to their sound with definite pitch.
