The Electric or the Classic Acoustic which one to drums on?

Budding musicians have tons of queries before they begin. The common question that beginner drummers have is whether to practice on electric or acoustic drum kits. The answer is hard to state in black and white.

Both the kits have their pros and cons, however at the end, it depends on the purpose of use and seriousness of the musician. You are reading the right article if you want the decision made easy.

The electro drum

Advantages

  • You can practice with earphones on preventing all neighbor issues.

  • Built in metronomes help experimentation and playing a treat.

  • Mostly cheap.

Disadvantages

  1. They lack the feel and sound of acoustic drum kits.

  2. They eventually break and require individual parts replaced.

The acoustic drum

Advantages

  • Allows you to practice drum rolls, cymbal swells and much more to a realistic level.

  • Bottom end kits are available at cheap rates these days and second-hand models are even cheaper.

  • No electronics amplification needed for small gigs.

Disadvantages

  1. These are very noisy and loud and if ear plugs are not worn may lead to serious hearing problems

  2. These get scratched and warp if not handled well

Each kit has their own reason to be chosen over the other. But doing away with technicalities what really matters is which drum kit lures you to it like a siren. If it’s the one for you and it will be love at sight.
