A short guide on how to tune drums
Tuning drums can be a pretty tricky task. On several occasions, people think that they need an entirely new set. But that is not the case most of the times. You need to know how to fine tune your drums efficiently. Here is a short guide on how to do so.
Heads
More often than not, it is the head of the drum that needs replacing. This is prone to happening to those who are hard hitters. If you fall in that category too, just know that the head will wear off even quicker. Make sure that you replace them before it reaches the point of no return.
Fine Tuning
After you have replaced the head of the drum, you have to fine tune the drum. In order to do that, you have to first tap the head about an inch far from the tension rods. Make sure that the pitch on each one is identical in nature. That would indicate that the drum is tuned in an even manner.
Snares
The snares are often considered to be the most important part of the entire drum set. Snare sounds are qualitative in nature and are different for each drummer. Finding the right tune is totally up to you and your style of playing.
